"Edgar's contributions to the success of Halliburton will continue as a testament to his abilities long after his retirement," said Lesar. "Edgar was the architect in the transformation of Halliburton into recognition by our customers as a leader in real time reservoir solutions. Also, of particular note was his introduction of the safety moment at the beginning of all meetings throughout Halliburton, a ritual that other companies in the industry now emulate. Although Edgar will be missed, we are fortunate to have a leader of the caliber of John Gibson to step in and assume the responsibility for moving Halliburton's Energy Services Group forward."

Gibson, who became president of Halliburton Energy Services in March 2002, has 20 years of combined experience in the energy and information technology industries. In 1994, Gibson joined Halliburton's Landmark Graphics and worked his way up through various executive positions to become president and chief executive officer.

"John earned this position with his performance as president of Landmark Graphics and, most recently, as president of Halliburton Energy Services," said Lesar. "In each position he's held, he has improved operations, employee morale, company relationships and all aspects of financial performance."
