Halliburton Does Not Infringe Patent

DALLAS, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) said today that following the tremendous success of the company's Delta Frac, its Phoenix fracturing system is another in a series of low polymer, low gel residue products providing customers with excellent operating performance. The Phoenix service does not infringe on BJ Services Company's U.S. patent no. 6,017,855 as they allege in a lawsuit announced today. The fracturing fluid process used by Halliburton is materially different than the BJ process. Halliburton intends to vigorously defend against the BJ lawsuit.
