Halliburton Provides $500,000 and Equipment to Assist With Flood Recovery Efforts

HOUSTON, Jun 14, 2001 /PRNewswire/ -- Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), the third largest private sector employer in the Houston area with over 17,000 employees, has donated $500,000 to assist in flood recovery efforts resulting from Tropical Storm Allison.

"When I saw the devastation caused by this flood I knew we had to help any way we could," said Dave Lesar, Halliburton Company President and CEO. "To my knowledge, approximately 600 Halliburton employees were affected by the flood, and of course they are the first on our list to help. If our employees don't need the entire $500,000, we will donate the remainder to a local flood relief fund."

The company's Employee Assistance Program will provide cash grants to employees based on the level of need. Subject to the policies and procedures of each, affiliated credit unions -- Brownbuilder Federal Credit Union, Halliburton Federal Credit Union, Kellogg Employee Federal Credit Union, and Dresser Central Credit Union -- may also issue bridge loans to employees waiting for money from their insurance companies or other flood relief agencies, and the company will pay the interest for up to two years.

Halliburton has also provided a crew to deliver and set up diesel water pumps to a couple of local hospitals to assist with water removal from their facilities. In addition to corporate support, Halliburton employees who were not affected by the flood are donating money and household goods, clothing and other items to support the flood victims.

"It is not unusual for Halliburton employees to step up to the plate," Lesar said. "I am proud of the way they are helping each other and all Houston flood victims."
