Reliance Industries Awards Halliburton Contract to Provide Deep Water Sand Control Completion Technology
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 2007--Halliburton's (NYSE:HAL) Energy Services Group has been awarded a major contract by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for the provision of deep water sand control completion technology in the Dhirubhai-I and Dhirubhai-3 fields offshore India.
The scope of the work includes supplying products and installation services for upper completion for 18 wells and open hole gravel packs for 15 wells with provision of appropriate back up equipment. The estimated contract value is (USD) $35 million. Some 15 of the wells will be completed with very large inside diameter hardware in order to maximize the production capability of the wells. The gravel pack system, a field proven system in deep water, will accommodate monitoring technology across the reservoir for the first time in a deep water sand control environment.
"This project leverages Halliburton's vast experience in deep water sand control completions," said Chas Charles, Halliburton's country vice president in India. "It also benefits from our global manufacturing capabilities in the United States, Scotland and Singapore."
The contract is the latest of three contracts awarded to the company by RIL in the last year. Last year, Halliburton was awarded contracts to provide high pressure well testing; deep water cementing products and services; and hole enlargement services for RIL's exploration work. The aggregate value of all the contracts, including this one, is approximately (USD) $150 million.
